Maverick singer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding tithing.
Recall that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, apologized for previously stating that those who do not pay tithe will not make it to heaven. He clarified, “I’m apologizing for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you won’t make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible. What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.’”
In response, Charly Boy criticized Adeboye’s apology, claiming it was meaningless unless the pastor returned the tithes he had collected. He expressed his strong opinion, stating, “I truly believe that a lot of the fakest people are found in churches, my opinion not yours. Your apology doesn’t mean anything unless you promise to return the tithe money given by gullible people trying to bribe their way to heaven.”
Charly Boy went on to accuse some pastors of misleading their congregations and added, “Stop giving your CONGREGATION ridiculous stories. Sometimes, the nicest people you meet may have bodies covered with tattoos, while the most bitter, judgmental, envious, and wicked people all go to church on Sundays.”
He concluded his reaction with sharp criticism of Adeboye’s previous teachings, stating, “Since your announcement decades ago that people should throw away their TVs, I had always known that your way no pure as person wey dey ‘drink tea with God.’”
