Florence Masebe has recalled the horrifying moment she almost died in a shooting

The actress shared the story while encouraging her followers to talk about their struggles and how they overcome them, using the hashtag #DearChild.

Florence says she was gripped by fear during the incident.

“One day I’ll talk about what it really took to get up and live after people who to this day were never caught shot at me more than 40 times and left me to die.

“That was 1999. The fear-gripped 27-year-old back then did well to fight. My victory. There. I named it,” she wrote.

Florence was injured when the suspects opened fire on her car while she was outside her Sandton home in 1999

Thankfully, she did not suffer life-threatening injuries. Her attacker is believed to have fired between six and eight rounds at her car and the star was reportedly wounded in the legs and arms.

Florence starred in Generations at the time and many believed the shooting could have been linked to her character, but that was never confirmed.

While Florence has healed from her wounds, the emotional trauma still lives with her.
Zelda le Grange praised the actress for sharing her story
