Musician Lira becomes the first African to be honored with a Lira Barbie doll

Musician Lerato ‘Lira’ Molapo becomes the very first African to be honoured with a one of a kind Lira Barbie doll.

Barbie is celebrating 60 years of revolution and for its 60th anniversary the Lira Barbie doll was created in part of the Barbie Shero campaign.

The campaign is an effort by the organisation to inspire girls. “I’m deeply honoured to be Barbie’s first African role model and am excited to align with brand that is on a mission to show girls more diverse role models…”Lira shared on social media.

Other role models from around the globe include tennis star Naomi Osaka, Film director Ava Duvernay, and activist and supermodel Adwoa Aboah..
