Former reality TV star Lexi van Niekerk has opened up about the social anxiety she faces when going out as she isn’t willing to allow random people to touch her baby

Mandla and Lexi welcomed their first child together in April this year.

Lexi has been openly sharing the joys and challenges of being a new mom on social media.

In a string of tweets, Lexi spoke out about one of her greatest frustrations especially when she goes out to a mall.

She revealed that maternity leave had changed her as a person

“Five months on maternity leave has really changed my personality. Been out a few times and I’ve realised I’m constantly feeling anxious and so nervous. Driving is even way more nerve wracking,” she said.

She reflected on one incident when she was pregnant a “weird” woman touched her tummy and followed her around in the shop.

Lexi added that it also doesn’t help the situation when people want pictures and want to touch her baby

“I will not allow any ‘fan’ to touch me or my baby. Why can’t some of you respect our space?

“Also, you can surely tell when someone is in a rush. Respect that. Please know my attitude will stink if you think I’m at the mall to entertain you or your disrespectful self. Tsek!,” Lexi added.

When Lexi announced the birth of her son on Instagram a few months ago, she said that she could not believe that she was a mom.

“I can’t believe I’m a mom, to be honest, it feels weird and I still have to pinch myself… Pregnancy and motherhood is extremely overwhelming, but I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
